Workshop FAQs

AHCA/NCAL National Quality Awards Program

The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Awards Program is a progressive program that is based on the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence. This nationally recognized approach to performance excellence focuses on systems-based quality improvement to create sustained levels of performance over time in the areas of leadership, strategic planning, customer and workforce, operations, and knowledge management. Providers are nationally recognized for achieving each award level, (e.g., Bronze, Silver, Gold) eventually joining the ranks of the best in long-term care. Analyses have shown that incorporation of Baldridge Criteria principles is associated with improvement in areas such as regulatory compliance, quality measure performance, a reduction in workforce turnover, and financial performance. Some state level Medicaid programs also use the AHCA/NCAL Quality Award recognition as an incentive for higher reimbursement to providers.
